4 Mile Trail Camp
Group area designed for use by equestrian campers riding the Shore to Shore Riding/Hiking Trail. Non-equestrian campers are also welcome. Maximum capacity is for 200 individuals and can accommodate tents and small trailers. Group Trail Camps are available by reservation by calling -
Agate Falls Scenic Site
Considered by many to be one of upper Michigan's most picturesque waterfalls, Agate Falls is located on the middle branch of the Ontonagon River. The falls are created as the river finds its way over an extended shelf of terraced sandstone. The resulting waterfall is a broad band of interlacing cascades and small falls nearly 40 feet high. Access to view the falls is via an improved, accessible foot trail. Parking, water, toilets and picnic tables are available at the park, which is generally open from early May through late October. -
Algonac Riverfront-Modern
Algonac State Park's major attraction is viewing freighters of the world along the one half mile of St. Clair River frontage. Algonac is also home to rare habitats, the lake plain prairies and oak savannas that provide places to view prairie plants, wildlife and butterflies. -

Aloha State Park offers modern camping on beautiful Mullett Lake the center of the Inland Lakes Waterways. Campsites are near the Park's boat launch for those traveling this route. Aloha is close to many of Michigan's most famous travel attractions at the Straits of Mackinaw. -

Arbutus No. 4 State Forest Campground
30 sites for tent and small trailer use located along a string of beautiful lakes that dot the area. We have a beach area, boat launch, and plenty of shore line provide excellent opportunities for boating, fishing, and enjoying the water. AuSable River State Forest Campground and Canoe Camp
We have 13 sites for tent or small trailer use, 5 of which are designated for canoe-access only. Located on the main branch of the Au Sable River. Universally accessible picnic tables. Rustic campground includes vault toilets and potable water from well hand pump. Sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No reservations. Bald Mountain Recreation Area has some of the steepest hills and most rugged terrain in southeastern Michigan. Camping is limited to rustic cabins, but the extensive trails, inland lakes, trout streams and wild game provide recreation opportunities all year long. -

Bass River Recreation Area
Bass River Recreation Area, a 1,665-acre site, consists of open meadows, open brush land, mature hardwoods, small ponds and 300-acre Max Lake. It has approximately three miles of frontage on the Grand River. The park is used primarily for boating, hiking, mountain biking and horse back riding. -

The campground is open from May through November. Beaufort Lake: Beaufort Lake is a deep 462 acre lake. It is connected with Lakes George (160 acres) and Ruth(192 acres). -

Bewabic Semi-Modern
A 137-site campground is situated in a shady, wooded site with buffer strips between most of the sites. Bewabic has picnic areas, a tennis court, a hiking trail, two playgrounds, an excellent beach and a boat launch to Fortune Lake. It is also part of the Iron County Heritage Trail system. -

Big Knob State Forest Campground

Location 14 miles SW of Naubinway via US-2 and Big Knob Rd. -
Big Lake State Forest Campground

No reservations. 12 sites for tent and small trailer use located on the east shore of Big Lake. This is a rustic campground with vault toilets, hand pump well. No reservations. The campground is open from May through November. Big Lake. Big lake is a 127-acre shallow sand bottom lake. -
Black Creek State Forest Campground
Phone number indicated above is for the Roscommon (first listing) and Cadillac (later listing) Operation Service Center. Sites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No reservations. This is a semi-modern, 23 site campground for tent or small trailer use, 15 sites will accommodate a 40-ft vehicle/trailer. Services include a pressurized potable water system and vault toilets. The campground is open from mid April to mid November. -
Black Lake State Forest Campground

Located on the north shore of Black Lake, this 50 site rustic campground has two units. The 33 site upper unit is designated for ORV camping, and the 17 site lower unit is for the traditional camper. All campsites can facilitate tent and trailer use. -

Bond Falls is a scenic waterfall created as the middle branch of the Ontonagon river tumbles over a thick belt of fractured rock, dividing it into numerous small cascades. The Carl T. Johnson Hunting and Fishing Center, located in Mitchell State Park, is named for the founder of the Michigan Conservation Foundation who is a life-long supporter of hunting and fishing. The center is universally accessible. -

Campground is located adjacent to Shore to Shore Riding/Hiking Trail and is designed to accommodate equestrian campers. Non-equestrian campers are also welcome. There are 10 designated sites for tent and small trailer use, 6 of which will accommodate 40 ft vehicle available on the first come, first serve basis. The group area has a maximum capacity for 100 individuals and can accommodate tents and small trailers. Group Trail Camps are available by reservation only by calling 989.983.4101. -

Ionia State Recreation Area
Ionia Recreation Area offers you 149 campsites (100 modern and 49 rustic), 4,500 acres that offer a swimming beach, good fishing in Sessions Lake, camping, hunting, 3.5 miles of hiking trails looped within the park, nine miles designated for mountain bike trails, 15 miles of horse trails and a boat launch. We also have three designated trail loops for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling when there is four inches or more of snow. Additional amenities include a dog trail area and metal detecting area. -

Ionia Recreation Area offers you 149 campsites (100 modern and 49 rustic), 4,500 acres that offer a swimming beach, good fishing in Sessions Lake, camping, hunting, 3.5 miles of hiking trails looped within the park, nine miles designated for mountain bike trails, 15 miles of horse trails and a boat launch. We also have three designated trail loops for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling when there is four inches or more of snow. Additional amenities include a dog trail area and metal detecting area. -

J.W. Wells-Bay Stone Lodge
Located 200 yards from the park's swimming beach, the lodge sleeps up to 12 people, has two full baths, a screened porch with outdoor table and chairs, stone fireplace and hardwood floors. The use of hand-hewn beams and stones collected from Lake Michigan's Green Bay showcases the craftsmanship demonstrated by the 1940s era of the Civilian Conservation Corps. The name, Bay Stone Lodge, reflects the use of local construction materials. Amenities include a refrigerator, electric stove, microwave, blender, slow cooker, coffee maker and toaster. A gas grill is also on the premises. Linens are supplied along with all dishware, utensils, pots and pans and bakeware. Maid service is not provided, and guests are expected to clean the lodge prior to their departure. -
Jackson Lake State Forest Campground
We have 18 sites for tents and small trailer use. There is 15 that will accommodate 40 foot vehicle/trailers. Located on small, peaceful Jackson Lake with boating and fishing opportunities. Johnson's Crossing Trail Camp
Group area designed for use by equestrian campers riding the Shore to Shore Riding/Hiking Trail. Non-equestrian campers are also welcome. Maximum capacity is for 100 individuals and can accommodate tents and small trailers. Group Trail Camps are available by reservation only by calling (989) 983-4101. Rustic campground includes vault toilets and potable water from well hand pump. There is also a submersible pump that requires a 5000 watt generator to run. -

Kal-Haven Trail State Park
Kal-Haven Trail State Park is a 34-mile crushed limestone path connecting South Haven and Kalamazoo. The trail meanders through wooded areas, past farm lands and over rivers and streams. Trail highlights include a camelback bridge and covered bridge. Trails are great for cross-country skiing, hiking and biking. There is an 11 mile parallel section where horses are allowed. The staging area for horses is at 67th street and baseline. -

Lakelands Trail State Park
Converted from abandoned railroad corridors this gravel surfaced linear park is approximately 13-miles long. Designed for hiking, biking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing and wheelchair use. Trail runs between Stockbridge and Pinckney, passing through wooded areas and rolling farmland and offers spectacular views of spring flowers. Trailheads are located on M-52 in Stockbridge and a quarter mile north of M-36 on D-19 in Pinckney. On June 23, 2007, Hamburg Township dedicated the portion of the Lakelands Trail State Park that runs through Hamburg Township. The asphalting of the trail and the tunnel under M-36 has been completed and the trail is officially open for public use. The MI parks system offers 4 linear parks. -

Lime Island State Recreation Area
Sit atop a bluff overlooking the St. Marys River and watch Great Lake freighters pass by, hike on many trails that lace the island, fish from shore or enjoy a sandy beach. Two and three bedroom cottages available that can sleep up to eight individuals. Water and portable restrooms are located nearby. Tent camping on raised tent platforms is available. Non-platform camping is also available up on the hill or on grass in a designated site. Offered seasonally on Lime Island. Weekend cottage reservation is a minimum stay of two nights. Michigan Forest Visitor Center
The Michigan Forest Visitor Center is open daily 10am to 6pm Memorial Day through Labor Day. September through May, the center is open daily 9am to 4pm, excluding the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. The Hartwick Pines Logging Museum is open May 1 through Oct. 31. Within the visitor center is a 105-seat auditorium featuring a nine-projector, multi-image slide program: "The Forest, Michigan's Renewable Resource." This 14-minute show orients visitors to the story of forest management from the logging era to the present. The auditorium also hosts a variety of programs, videos and special presentations during the summer. -

Ocqueoc Falls State Forest Campground

Oden State Fish Hatchery Visitor Center
The site of the original fish hatchery building which began operations in 1921. In 2002, a new hatchery was built one quarter-mile northeast of the current visitor center. Adjacent to the visitor center sits the re-created 1914-1935 Wolverine train car. This historic exhibit depicts how employees of the old Michigan Department of Conservation lived on the train while transporting and stocking fish across the state. Hiking trails. Open daily Memorial Day to Labor Day, the interpretive staff offers tours by reservation only from September through May. -

Shoreview cabin offers a covered front porch area, large universally accessible deck, fire circle, refrigerator, microwave, outdoor grill, rowboat and electricity. It sleeps up to six, with two sets of bunk beds in separate rooms and a futon couch in the main living area. Campers must supply their own bedding, dishes and cookware. This 400-square foot cabin is situated about 50 feet from the Black Lake shoreline, and 300 ft from the parks designated swimming area on the southeast shore of Black Lake. Palms Book is a rewarding side trip for the vacationer touring the Upper Peninsula, for here can be seen one of Michigan's alluring natural attractions-Kitch-iti-kipi, "The Big Spring." Two hundred feet across, the 40-foot deep Kitch-iti-kipi is Michigan's largest freshwater spring. Over 10,000 gallons a minute gush from fissures in the underlying limestone. The flow continues throughout the year at a constant 45 degree Fahrenheit. By means of a self-operated observation raft, visitors are guided to vantage points overlooking fascinating underwater features and fantasies. -

Its old growth beech/sugar maple stands are associated with the black-throated green warbler, osprey, river otter, moose, fern and wild orchids. Facilities at the equestrian staging area and campground are limited to vault toilets and a hand pump well for water. The organization campground is a rustic campground without modern facilities available only for groups. Day use facilities located on Pontiac Lake provide park visitors with a ballfield, 1/3-mile long beach, modern concession stand, boat launch, bathhouse, toilet buildings and picnic areas. Saginaw Bay Visitor Center
Nestled under a canopy of sheltering hardwoods on the edge of the marsh, the modern visitor center stands on the site of the historic Jennison Nature Center, built in 1940 and named for George B. Jennison, a prominent local conservationist. Fifty-five years later, the aging nature center was given a $1 million makeover. A 10,000-square-foot building, which more than doubled the size of the original facility, reopened in 1996 with a 100-seat auditorium and new exhibit hall. -
Sanilac Petroglyphs Historic State Park
Within the 240-acre parcel historic site are the Sanilac Petroglyphs. Michigan's only known rock carvings attributed to Native American workmanship in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. The petroglyphs are open during summer Wednesday through Sunday 10 am to 5 pm until Labor Day call to make sure exact times when open. The park contains a one mile hiking trail that crosses the Little Cass River in two places. The trail is open from 8am to 10pm year-round. The Soo Locks and Tahquamenon Falls are just one hour away and the Father Marquette Memorial is located in the Straits State Park. -

The park has 275 modern campsites that feature electricity, fire rings and picnic tables. Fifteen Straits-semi modern waterfront sites. There are four modern toilet buildings with showers, two sanitation stations. We have a view of the Mackinac Bridge and are 1/2 mile from the ferries that travel to and from Mackinac Island. The Soo Locks and Tahquamenon Falls are just one hour away and the Father Marquette Memorial is located in the Straits State Park. -
Sturgeon Point Scenic Site on Lake Huron
Sturgeon Point Lighthouse is located five miles north of Harrisville on Lake Huron and was completed in November 1870. The tower is 70 feet, 9 inches tall and is 16 feet in diameter at its base. The light is 3.5 order Fresnel lens made in Paris, France. The light is still maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard. The keeper's house is now a maritime museum which is open to the public from Memorial Day to mid-September. The lighthouse tower is open to the public. The grounds are open all year. -

Wagner Falls Scenic Site
This scenic waterfall is nestled amongst virgin pine and hemlock trees. There is a small parking area and a half-mile trail with an observation deck overlooking the falls. Wagner Creek falls over a stratum of erosion-resistant dolomite into order to flow into a shallow gorge containing the Anna River. The Anna, soon afterwards, flows northward into Lake Superior. -
Walsh Road Equestrian State Forest Campground and Trail
Campground is located adjacent to Shore to Shore Riding/Hiking Trail and is designed to accommodate equestrian campers. Non-equestrian campers are also welcome. There are nine designated sites for tent and small trailer use available on the first come, first serve basis. The group area has a maximum capacity for 40 individuals and can accommodate tents and small trailers. -

18 sites for tent and small trailer use located on Weber Lake. Offers access to Lost Tamarack Pathway for hiking, biking, and the enjoyment of peaceful wooded surroundings. -
Wells State Park
The Wells State Park Campground has 150 sites. All with electric. The sites are grassy with some trees. There are 20 sites located right on Green Bay for a spectacular view, one shower/toilet building for your convenience and 1/2 mile of sandy beach with toilet/changing facilities. Trails for hiking in the summer, and non-groomed trails for cross-country skiing in the winter. Be sure to also check out the new Bay Stone Lodge that can be rented on the grounds of the state park. -
West Branch State Forest Campground
Sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No reservations. 18 sites for tent or small trailer use located on the west branch of the Escanaba River. Hiking pathway at the campground. Rustic campground includes vault toilets and potable water from well hand pump. -

William G. Milliken State Park and Harbor
William G. Milliken State Park and Harbor is located on Atwater Street in downtown Detroit, next to the Rivard Plaza. It is the first urban state park in Michigan. It is officially open to the public, 31 acres in size that include coastal wetlands an important part of the Detroit River ecosystem that provides habitat for migrating birds and other wildlife. Fishing is available at the quiet seating at the Peter Stroh Memorial with two picnic pavilions, an historic dry dock area, accessible bicycle and pedestrian trails. The Harbor has 52 slips for transient and seasonal boaters. -

A 7,000 sq. ft. Interpretive Center offers a history of Michigan's fish and fisheries management efforts on the grounds of the Wolf Lake State Fish Hatchery just 8 miles west of Kalamazoo. Visitors can view an assortment of fish found in Michigan from an observation platform over a clear water pond. Young State Park
Young State Park is located at the east end of beautiful Lake Charlevoix. The park spans over 560 acres in Charlevoix County and is a mix of gently rolling terrain, lowlands, and cedar swamp. The park has 240 modern campsites w/ electricity spread across three campgrounds named Terrace, Oak and Spruce. There are also two mini cabins available for rent. Activities available in the park are boating, fishing, trails for hiking, jogging and nature study plus cross country skiing. Metal detecting area.
